Spice up Your Home with New Plants

We have talked the last few weeks about how to get those buyers out of the car and into the house writing  offers.  This week we going to talk about how a beautifully manicured yard sends an inviting message to the buyers that the person who owned the home treated it with loving care.  It is hard to pass up a yard that is groomed and especially when it  is blooming with color.  I always had gardens at my home before I gave into condo living and the challenge was to find flowers that looked pretty even when they were not blooming.  Let me share some great choices for color, ease and lasting punch to your yard.

Irises are a classic and a great choice because they bloom in late spring and in this area into the summer.  When they are not blooming they continue to have attractive foliage that is a great filler for your garden.  You also get a second bloom in the mid fall.  You will need to plant the bulb where the rhizome is slightly above the soil so the sunlight can reach it and work its magic.

One of my favorites is the Hosta that comes in many colors, shapes, sizes and textures – I just love their beauty and variety.  They can be as small as a few inches and as tall as 3 feet (almost as big as me).  They make a great border and if you want the variety that loves sunshine stick with the yellow green varieties.

Now to finish up with an easy perennial go for the bee balm but only if you are not allergic to bees. They are gorgeous, usually red and butterflies, bees and Hummingbirds love them.  Another reason they are a favorite is they are just happy go lucky and are happy in the shade or the sun. Now that is the way to be just happy and joyful whatever life brings our way.

Now that makes for a great garden and and even better life.
